The Brinkmeyer Family: Literally & Figuratively Oh-so Sweet!

The Brinkmeyer Family: Literally & Figuratively Oh-so Sweet!

It’s always exciting when I have the opportunity to work with a family multiple times, and this was the second time I had the privilege of photographing the Brinkmeyer family. Brennen, Owen, Zhiya, and Emmarie all have June/July birthdays. With so much to celebrate, I’m so glad we were able to fit this session in between birthday parties!

Brennen and Owen turned 8 and 9, and as boys, they were much happier to play at the nearby park than to have their photos taken. We made things quick and painless, and they got to play with their dad while Samantha (their mom) and I focused on the girls.

Zhiya is a four-year-old, red-haired beauty. She takes a minute to warm up to the camera, but when she does, she’s a total diva. I especially love the photos of Zhiya wearing her mama’s heels. I remember playing dress up with my mom shoes at Zhiya’s age, and I’m so glad we were able to capture this memory on camera.

Miss Emmarie is just as beautiful as her big sister, and in honor of her first birthday, a cake smash was clearly needed. Some kids are terrified to dig in but not Emmarie. She just went for it! If you take a look at some of the cake photos, you’ll see that she put in quite a dent. I love sweets, and even I was impressed with how much cake she fit in her sweet little belly.

I’ll be taking photos for this beautiful family again in November for Christmas, and I can’t wait! Having the opportunity to watch and capture families change and grow is one of my favorite things about being a photographer. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your family again, Samantha. See you in five short months!
